Girls’ Generations’ Yoona nominated at 2018 Asian Film Awards for ‘Confidential Assignment’ role
Professionally known as Yoona, Im Yoon-ah
received several accolades for her “Confidential Assignment” role, the most
recent of which is a 2018 Asian Film Awards nomination. The member of the K-pop
girl group Girls’ Generation was nominated as Best Newcomer in the 12th
edition of the annual awards ceremony.
For her role as Park Min-young in “Confidential
Assignment,” Yoona won the Popularity Award in the actress category in the
inaugural The Seoul Awards. She also won Best Popular Asian Actress in the
inaugural Marianas International Film Festival.
For the same role, Yoon won the Newcomer Award
at the third Korean Film Shining Star Awards, the Rising Star Award at the 22nd
Busan International Film Festival and the Most Popular Actress Award under the
film category of the 53rd Baeksang Arts Awards. She was also
nominated as Best New Actress at the 38th Blue Dragon Film Awards
but lost to “Anarchist from Colony” actress Choi Hee-seo.
For the Best Newcomer category at the 2018
Asian Film Awards, Yoona will compete with five other actresses. They are “Youth” actress Zhong
Chuxi and “Angels Wear White” actress Zhou Meijun, both from China, as well as “Tomorrow
is Another Day” actress Ling Man-lung from Hong Kong, Akari Kinoshita from Japan
and “Bad Genius” Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying from Thailand.
The 12th Asian Film Awards ceremony
will take place on March 17, 2018 at The Venetian Macao in Macau. It has yet to be confirmed if
Yoona is attending the ceremony.
Among Yoona’s “Confidential Assignment” co-stars
are Hyun Bin, Kim Joo-hyuk, Yoo Hae-jin, Park Min-ha, Lee Dong-hwi and Jang
